Updating Old Favorites with Modern Comforts
Walt Disney World has made the thoughtful decision to refresh the 365 cabins at Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground that have welcomed families since 1999. While maintaining the same cozy size of 504 square feet, these cabins will be reborn with today’s conveniences but retain their classic charm.
Better yet, though the existing cabins charge an average of $500 per night, anyone may book the new cabins rather than only timeshare owners. I can’t wait to relax inside their upgraded comforts!
Teamwork and Creativity Behind the Scenes
Constructing so many new cabins on this beloved yet snug resort requires diligent collaboration. With narrow roads between sections, the builders face spatial challenges. But through resourcefulness like pre-assembling pieces off-site, they efficiently overcome obstacles so guests may happily discover the finished cabins.
It warms my heart to see the construction team’s dedication in innovations like a machine carefully crafting cabin walls with minimal waste. Their care makes the magic happen.
Enhanced Accommodations
While keeping a similar footprint, these cabins truly upgraded! The bathroom now leads into an inviting living/dining space, then a private bedroom – a clever reimagining. And gone are old brown exteriors; bright greens, reds and woods bring nature indoors. Larger windows connect guests to the forest, complemented by wood ceilings and Disney details.

As an annual passholder, I’m thrilled anyone from DVC members to families can now book these cabins starting at $529. Extending evening and early entry park hours adds to the magic!
