So, you’re all set to attend the D23 Expo this year, right? Well, hold on to your Mickey ears because there’s a new rule in town that might throw a wrench in your plans. Bags are a staple for any Disney park visit – snacks, water, phone chargers, you name it. But this year, bags won’t be allowed into the main portion of the D23 Expo at the Honda Center. Say what now?
New Location, New Rules
This year’s D23 Fan Expo is shaking things up a bit. While the usual convention space at the Anaheim Convention Center will host the main show floor activities as usual, the three signature panel events will be relocated to take place August 9th through 11th at the Honda Center. Here lies the problematic change – the Honda Center has a “No Bag” policy that allows only purses or bags no larger than 5 inches by 9 inches by 2 inches. Backpacks, often a fun way for Disney fans to carry personal items, are now completely off limits according to the strict new guidelines. Attendees accustomed to toting cute Disney backpack designs may need to rethink their carrying strategy.
What’s on the Agenda?
With such an exciting event on the horizon, let’s preview some of the can’t-miss panels planned! The Disney Entertainment Showcase is sure to delight loyal fans of franchises like Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar, classic Disney movies and television shows. At the Disney Experiences Panel, inspiration will abound as park enthusiasts learn all the newest developments and innovations coming to favorite theme park destinations. And the legendary Disney Legends Ceremony promises to bring both admiration and nostalgia, as iconic names in the industry like Harrison Ford, Miley Cyrus and John Williams are honored for their remarkable contributions. It will no doubt be a truly memorable celebrity-filled affair for Disney devotees.

Purchasing a ticket is required for Disney fans who don’t want to miss out on the exciting experiences planned for the D23 Expo. There are a few ticket options available depending on one’s needs and budget:
- The D23 Ultimate Fan Pass 3-Day Ticket for $297 provides access to all three days of panels at the Honda Center.
- A 1-day D23 Ultimate Fan Pass is $99 for a single day of panels.
- Those hoping to enjoy premier perks can purchase a D23 Preferred Ultimate Fan Pass 3-Day Ticket for $999.
Alternatively, a D23 Fan Pass grants entrance just to the Anaheim Convention Center activities from $79-$259 based on one’s membership status, for those not interested in the panel events.
When Can You Buy?
Loyal D23 Gold Members were the first to purchase tickets on March 26th. Disney Visa Cardholders secured their spots the following day on the 27th. General D23 Members can join in and order starting March 28th. However, a D23 Membership is required to participate in ticket sales. The privileges of Gold Membership, like early access, may be worth the cost for the most avid Disney supporters.
