ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex is known for its top-notch sports facilities, and the last couple years have brought forth exciting additions to the complex. Here are some notable changes and things that happened in the last 2 years:
Expanded Event Offerings:
Cheerleading World Championship: April 26 – April 29, 2024.
UCA & UDA College Cheerleading and Dance Team National Championship: January 12 – January 14, 2024.
UDA – Florida Dance Championship: January 15, 2024.
The United States Department of Defense hosted their 2022 Warrior Games at ESPN Wide World of Sports in August of that year.
According to Disney, this event “celebrates the resiliency and dedication of wounded, ill, and injured active duty and U.S. military service members.”
This was the first time, the DoD Warrior Games took place at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, which has been generously donated for this purpose. If this information feels familiar, it’s because the 2021 Department of Defense Warrior Games were initially slated to be held at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex last September. Unfortunately, they had to be canceled due to the Delta variant.
During 2022 and 2023, the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex has been selected to host the US Youth Soccer (USYS) National Championships. This major event was held in July 2023. The event crowned boys and girls champions in each of USYS’ seven age divisions (13U-19U)
